Discover stadium architecture in the cityscape!

For UEFA Euro 2024, the architecture specialists at PANORAMASTREETLINE.DE are teaming up with Promenaden im Hauptbahnhof Leipzig (Leipzig Central Station) to present a special look at modern and classic football stadium façades. In the portraits by Leipzig based photographer Jörg Dietrich, the silent giants of football are shown from unusual perspectives, thus focussing on a special task of building culture!

"For the stadium portraits, I picked out a few special examples of architecture," explains Jörg Dietrich. "I wanted to show how differently the almost monumental structures impact the urban cityscape." For example, a complete facade view of the old Arsenal Stadium in London Highbury was created for the first time. From Bochum, you can discover the brutalist stadium front of the Ruhrstadion on Castroper Straße and, with the Poststadion in Berlin, rediscover a largely unknown stadium building influenced by Expressionism, where German champions were crowned in the 1930s. The stadiums of the current champions Leverkusen and BVB have also been specially re-portrayed.

However, the focus of the exhibition is on stadiums in Central Germany. Around half of the arenas portrayed are located in Chemnitz, Dresden, Halle, Jena and Leipzig. So football fans passing through Leipzig Central Station during the European Championships can also rediscover their East German football culture locations - from the Erzgebirgestadion in Aue to the old Westsachsenstadion in Zwickau.
